Now is the best time to try Hut to Hut Ski Touring

This season – we have enjoyed an incredible snowfall, producing a deep base ensuring touring season will run long after the final lifts are closed in St Anton. Our first group has already toured the Silvretta – describing it as an “epic adventure”, our second group has departed this week. Huts are already filling up in the Silvretta, with skiers eager to enjoy these perfect touring conditions.

Enjoy the peace

In our ever more busy and stressful lifestyles, we need some time to kick back, enjoy the stunning beauty of the mountains, far away from the maddening crowds. After 5 days immersing yourself in stunning landscapes and natural beauty, you will return more relaxed and at peace with the world.

Improve your fitness

Ski touring is an excellent work out – forget slogging it in the gym, this will tone up your legs and butt, add definition to shoulders and arms and improve your overall aerobic fitness. You do not need to be super fit to join a tour – but just have a good overall level of fitness. Touring is not about speed but rather endurance, and getting the right pace at the start is key. Your guide is trained to do this and to help you set your own pace.

Meet new people with similar interests

There is no easier way to get to know new people, than sharing a beer or glass of wine from the comfort of the hut as you enjoy spectacular sunsets and early morning sunrises. Huts in the Silvretta are luxurious, and generally have private 4 or 6 bed rooms so you don’t nee to be surrounded by snoring strangers. Sitting down to a hot dinner each evening you will share stories from the day and get to know your fellow tourers who in all likelihood will become new ski friends.

Enjoy the adventure

Ski touring is an adventure in itself. Each morning you will start early after a big breakfast, stuff everything back into your backpack and get going in the cool morning temperatures. Your Piste To Powder guide will explain the route each day, peaks to climb and the distance to cover. Sometimes you may be roped together as you traverse glaciers. As you reach the summit there is always a sense of elation and achievement before you prepare for a perfect powder run down to the next hut.

Piste to Powder runs several tours from now until end of June – including the spectacular Silvretta – the perfect introduction or intermediate tour; for more experienced tourers  we have Ötztal including the famous  Haute Route – and Switzerland’s beautiful Jungfrau mountain region. Touring at  Lyngen Lodge in Norway extends well into June – our high power motorboat whisks you each day to a new touring destination before returning to the luxurious comfort of the Lodge. Enjoy meeting up again with many of your familiar Piste to Powder guides.

We still have places on all our tours, so now the only question is – which one!
