Equipment for Off Piste Technique Boosters

Equipment is key to skiing Off Piste – you need skis with around 100mm underfoot – the wider generally the easier as it will give you more lift. As most of this clinic is done on Piste you can also ski with 95-98mm underfoot if this is your ski width. We will recommend if you should change your skis for the next 2 days.

You can rent Off Piste easily to start with but we recommend investing in your own boots for comfort. A light merino base, fleece and gore tex jacket are essentials with an additional layer in your backpack to protect against the cold and plenty of high sun protection factor.

Generally a 25 liter pack will suffice to hold your safety equipment (shovel and probe). If you don’t have a backpack youc an rent one from the guide .  Energy snacks are also important -and carry plenty of water – a camel back makes it easy to stay hydrated or a flask with 1 liter of water or water with Magnesium.

Ski Fitness

You will need a reasonable level of fitness so make sure to do some warm up before you start your ski holiday. It is important to include aerobic training to ensure your legs don’t tire too early – any sports tennis, cycling, running will help and yoga is really helpful for flexibility.
