Valluga – an outstanding adventurous off piste run in St. Anton
Ready for the next adventure?
Here you’ll find some more info about Valluga North, this time we’d like to present you a run which is even more adventorous.
While the classic route Valluga North – is on the bucket list for most Off Piste enthusiasts arriving in St. Anton, the lesser known but more adventurous and scenic Valluga West is a secret gem.
To access it you need to take the jaw dropping state of the art, Valluga I gondola which whisks you to the summit Vallugagrat at 2,650m meters. From here, accompanied by a guide you squeeze into the historic, phone box sized Valluga II, and hold your nerve as it creeks up the steep face to the final stop – the observation deck at 2,811 meters.
Take a few moments to absorb the spectacular views from the deck before following the guide out on a short, relatively simple traverse across the no fall zone to the West Bowl. Standing on the ridge, breathing once again, you can now enjoy a wonderful powder descent into the breathtaking Pazieltal valley and down to Zürs.
Or the more gnarly route involves a steep climb down a secured passageway over an exposed ridge before entering a steep narrow gulley. After a few secure turns, the couloir opens up into an almost endless scenic descent of 900 vertical meters and up to 45 degrees pitch.
The rewards are well worth the effort, an amazingly long descent down a run that is skied less often, meaning snow stays good for a long time. Valluga West is an epic adventure you will never forget!
Valluga West is a half day trip, skiers must be Level 3, in a small group of 4 or less with a private guide. Conditions must be suitable.
