More Than the White Ring: Explore the Arlberg with a Local Ski Guide

The White Ring, or Der Weiße Ring, is probably the best-known ski circuit around Lech and Zürs and a fantastic way to explore this side of the Arlberg.

But it is only one part of a much bigger ski area.

The Arlberg Explorer is about discovering more. Depending on conditions, your guide can take you through different parts of St. Anton, St. Christoph, Stuben, Zürs and Lech, connecting the places that make the Arlberg so special.

White Ring, Run of Fame or Arlberg Explorer?

If you are researching a ski holiday in the Arlberg, you will probably come across two famous ski circuits: the White Ring and the Run of Fame.

The White Ring takes you on a classic circuit through the Lech Zürs area and is one of the best-known ski routes in Austria.

The Run of Fame goes much further. The complete circuit covers around 85 kilometres and 18,000 vertical metres, linking St. Anton/Rendl with Stuben, Zürs, Lech, Schröcken and Warth.

Both are fantastic ways to experience the scale of Ski Arlberg.

Piste To Powder’s Arlberg Explorer, however, is deliberately not about ticking off a predetermined route.

Instead of saying, “We have to go this way today,” we ask, “Where will we find the best skiing today?”

Snow conditions, weather, visibility, crowds and your group’s skiing ability can all influence the answer.

That might mean exploring part of the White Ring, skiing from St. Anton towards Stuben and Zürs, discovering Lech, following a section of the Run of Fame or spending more time in an area where conditions are particularly good.

That flexibility is one of the biggest advantages of exploring the Arlberg with a local ski guide.

Best Places to Ski in the Arlberg

One of the great things about skiing in the Arlberg is how different its individual areas feel.

St. Anton am Arlberg

St. Anton is where Piste To Powder is based and is famous worldwide for its skiing and mountain culture. Galzig, Schindlergrat, Valluga and Rendl offer very different terrain, and there is much more to discover than the obvious pistes.

St. Christoph & Stuben

Small villages, big mountains. St. Christoph and Stuben sit between the St. Anton and Lech Zürs sides of the Arlberg and offer beautiful skiing, spectacular mountain scenery and plenty of Arlberg history.

Zürs am Arlberg

Zürs sits in the middle of some of the Arlberg’s most interesting terrain and forms an important connection between St. Anton and Stuben on one side and Lech on the other.

It is also at the heart of both classic piste skiing and some of the Arlberg’s famous freeride terrain.

Lech am Arlberg

Lech combines beautiful skiing with spectacular scenery, excellent mountain restaurants and access towards Oberlech, Zug and Warth.

It is also home territory for the famous White Ring, making it an essential part of any trip for skiers wanting to discover the wider Arlberg.

Put everything together and you begin to understand why simply looking at the piste map does not tell the whole story.
