THE NEW SCHINDLERGRATBAHN LIFT

While the Ski Arlberg ski resort has undergone many improvements over the summer, the most important and exciting is without doubt the brand new Schindlergratbahn gondola lift. After an incredible 40 years of operation, the old three-person chairlift has retired and been replaced with a modern 10-seater gondola lift.

The new Schindlergratbahn lift comes with many advantages. As you can surely imagine, compared to the old and rather slow chairlift, a gondola is definitely more comfortable. We all remember sitting on the old chairlift on those cold wintery days – freezing for quite a bit focussing on amazing off piste runs ahead 🙂  The new lift provides much desired warmth and weather protection, making sure you’re ready for you next waist-deep powder run in St. Anton’s backcountry. The new Schindlergratbahn lift is also able to transport four times more skiers per hour compared to the old chairlift, so lift queues should be pretty much minimalized. What’s even more, the original mountain station has been replaced with a mid-station and you now have the option to continue additional 420 meters. There you will reach a new top station, located near the leaving point of the Valluga T-bar lift. This means that you can use the new 10-seater gondola lift to access more slopes and off-piste runs, including Schindler Kar, Valfagehr or Mattun.

The new Schindlergratbahn gondola lift will be officially opened during a ski season opening at the end of November, so make sure to test it on your next ski trip to St. Anton and let us guide you to the best terrain 🙂
